Character Name: ScaleO (Pronounced: Scaly-O)
Use: From Sale Ella a super hero inspired animation about scale and proportion.
Description/requirements given: I was told to do a visual design for a small statured, tights wearing super villain, who is also a magic dwarf. Character is brash and nasty. Character needs to to be easy to animate and be reproducible by other artists of various skill levels.
Process:This was my first attempt at creating a character strictly out of shapes. All my previous work had been done with lines that defined everything. As far a animation went the lack of line art helped keep thing easy to animate and thus gave the animation a cleaner look. The downside would have to be that I'm not used to constructing characters out of shapes so there was a bit of a learning curb.
i really love this little guy a lot. he totally gives me a sense nostalgia, like something from what we used to draw or watch as kids. very strong memorable design. even with your "learning curve" i think this is a sucess in regards to the parameters given. good stuff!
